Himachal: Dalit boy tortured for a year; scorpion put in pants
At a government school in Khaddapani, Shimla, three teachers—including the headmaster—have been booked for allegedly assaulting an eight-year-old Dalit boy over almost a year.
The abuse reportedly involved physical violence and even putting a scorpion in his pants, leading to injuries like a bleeding ear and eardrum damage.
The teachers also allegedly threatened the boy with arrest if he spoke up.
Father raises concerns about unauthorized staff at school
The boy's father says his son was forced to eat separately from other students—a clear sign of caste bias—and has raised concerns about unauthorized staff at the school.
Police have filed cases under multiple laws, including those protecting children and marginalized communities.
Authorities are still investigating, especially since this follows another recent case of caste-based abuse in the same area.
