How Gurugram hospital pulled off ₹100cr insurance scam
Galaxy One Hospital in Gurugram pulled off a major scam by creating fake medical records and pharmacy bills for people who never actually got treated.
Staff entered these "ghost" patients into the system and submitted false claims to 25 different insurers, about 60% of which were paid out.
Each approved claim brought in ₹60,000 to ₹70,000, with the money split between hospital staff and their partners in crime.
The operation was uncovered during a raid earlier this year
The whole operation unraveled after the Chief Minister's Flying Squad raided the hospital last year over similar irregularities, including a doctor using false credentials.
A complaint was lodged at the Bajghera police station, after which a joint team including police carried out a search in February 2026, finding roughly 56-60 suspected fake claim files and investigators noted the handwriting across many files was very similar, a clear sign of insider involvement.
The investigation has now spread to Labswell lab for suspected forged reports, and three staff members have already been arrested as authorities work to catch everyone involved.
