    Hands down the most common skin problem out there is of acne. It reportedly affects at least 85% of the world population at some point of time or the other.

    However, good news is that simple dietary and lifestyle changes can help prevent acne and other skin problems.

    Here are five ways to help you fight acne in summer.

    Keep your face clean; Moisturize regularly

    Keep your face clean: Wash your face at least twice a day on a daily basis to get rid of dirt, extra oil, dead skin cells and impurities. Also, use lukewarm water, and mild cleanser/soap. Further, be gentle while scrubbing your skin.

    Moisturize: Use a natural moisturizer regularly to eliminate risk of dryness and skin peeling. This will reduce the chances of acne breakout.

    Over-the-counter medication

    The most commonly prescribed acne treatment includes over-the-counter lotions and creams. They commonly contain benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, salicylic acid, sulfur or retinoic acid, that aid in reducing oil made by glands, and in breaking down pimples.

    In case of hormonal acne, doctors often recommend oral contraceptive pills.

    Antibiotics and topical treatments are also given, for moderate to severe acne condition.

    Diet: What to eat, what not to eat

    A healthy diet will help keep your skin health rejuvenated, and will reduce risk of acne.

    To eat: Get in more and more fresh fruits and veggies, fatty fish, probiotics, and nuts to eliminate risk of acne. Also, make sure to stay hydrated throughout the day.

    Not to eat: Reduce your intake of dairy-products, carbohydrates, excessively salty and sugary foods. Cut your alcohol intake.
