    IISc Summer Fellowship Program 2019: Here's how you can apply

    In a joint initiative, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) & Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS), Bangalore, have started Summer Fellowship applications in Science and Engineering-2019, for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students. The application can be filed online on IISc official website, www.iisc.ac.in. The last date for submitting the application is April 30, 2019. Here is everything you need to know about the program.

    Opportunity to work with IISc's faculty, learn research techniques

    The one-month long fellowship will commence in June and end in July. During the program, the students will get a chance to work with the IISc's faculty members and learn about several techniques used in research. As per the website, for any queries, students can reach out to the Deputy Registrar (Academic) of IISc on 080-2293 2706/2937 or mail them at sfse.acad@iisc.ac.in.

    IISc will provide accommodation and travel allowance to selected students

    As per official notice, "Those who are in the first year MSc. and third year BE/B.Tech will be given preference." Moreover, students will be given travel allowance of fare equivalent to second class sleeper train from respective nearest station to IISc and back. Along with lodging facilities (sharing) at IISc, students will get fellowship of Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 1,500 worth book grant.

    BE/B.Tech and MSc. students can apply for the fellowship

    The fellowship opportunity is open to all the SC/ST students currently in third or fourth year of BE/B.Tech or equivalent degree during the academic year 2018-19. Moreover, the students studying in MSc. program in Biological, Physical, Chemical and Mathematical Sciences can also apply. However, the students who have had previously completed the fellowship and who are pursuing higher education are not eligible.

    Here is how you can apply for the fellowship

    Here is how you can apply for the opportunity: Visit the IISc's official website. Click on the announcement, 'Indian Institute of Science & Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore jointly invite applications for the Summer Fellowship in Science and Engineering - 2019 for SC/ST students.' It will redirect you to the notice. Click on the link for submitting application at the end of the notice.

    Application number will be generated after filling the application

    After filling in all the details and submitting the application, an application number will be generated. You need to take a print out of the application form for future reference. Along with a study certificate signed by the head of his/her Institute, the latest passport size photograph of the student needs to be attached at the assigned place on the form.

    Signed application form need to uploaded on the website

    The student needs to sign the printed copy of the application. Later, the form needs to be scanned in a PDF or JPG format to be uploaded on the website. The link for uploading the signed application is available in the notice.
