India accelerates defence satellite launch post Operation Sindoor

India is gearing up to launch 52 military satellites by 2029, aiming for sharper surveillance over China, Pakistan, and the Indian Ocean.
This major move, part of the Space-Based Surveillance (SBS) program, comes with a ₹26,968 crore price tag and will be led by the Defence Space Agency.

TL;DR

21 satellites from ISRO and 31 from private companies

The plan includes 21 satellites from ISRO and 31 from private Indian companies.
These will orbit closer to Earth or stay parked high above it—giving India near-constant high-res monitoring, seriously boosting India's ability to spot threats early.

Air Force also getting HAPS aircraft for long-range spying

India isn't stopping at space tech—the Air Force is also getting high-altitude platform system (HAPS) aircraft for long-range spying missions in the stratosphere.
It's all about staying ahead as China ramps up its own military space game.
The goal: catch problems before they start and keep India secure from above.
