India and France launch joint military exercise 'Shakti'

India and France just kicked off their eighth joint military exercise, Exercise Shakti, at Camp Larzac, La Cavalerie in France.
This drill is all about helping both countries' armies work better together.

TL;DR

Focus on counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban areas

Shakti 2025 is centered on peacekeeping and counter-terrorism missions in semi-urban areas—think real-world scenarios, not just parade ground routines.
Both sides have sent 90 troops each: India's team is mostly from the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, while France's squad comes from their renowned Foreign Legion.

More than just military drills

Beyond the action-packed training, officials say these exercises are about building trust, sharing know-how, and strengthening a partnership that aims for global peace and security.
It's another step forward for two countries working closely on defense—and learning from each other along the way.
