Indian Railways announces massive hiring: 1.2 lakh+ jobs up for grabs
Indian Railways just dropped some big news—over 1.2 lakh jobs are opening up in the next two years.
As announced by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently, these roles cover everything from safety and technical work to operations, all through official Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) exams.
Why is everyone talking about it?
The numbers are wild: more than 1.86 crore people have taken the computer-based tests, with 32,438 Group D/Level-1 spots among the most sought-after, drawing a large share of the 1.86 crore applicants.
Panels have already picked candidates for technician, engineering, paramedical, and security posts.
Exams for Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs), Junior Engineers (JEs), and NTPC grads are also done.
What's next?
Railways has already hired 9,000 people this quarter and plans to add another 50,000 by March 2026.
Next year brings even more chances—16,208 new openings announced for ALPs (9,970) and Technicians (6,238) in notifications scheduled for March and June of next year (i.e., March/June 2026).
Bonus: no exam scams reported so far despite the huge scale and multi-city setup.
