IndiGo flights hit turbulence as new pilot rest rules kick in

IndiGo is having a rough week after new DGCA norms forced airlines to give pilots more rest and limit night landings.
These changes, which started on November 1, have caused major delays and cancellations—right when travel demand is high.

Why so many delays?

Only 30% of IndiGo flights left on time Tuesday, with over 150 cancelations expected after a similar wave the day before.
While IndiGo blames things like bad weather and airport jams, insiders say the real issue is not enough trained pilots.
The airline's focus on cost-cutting slowed down hiring, leaving current pilots stretched thin.
Meanwhile, Air India says it's handling the new rules just fine, stating it has enough pilots to meet the increased requirements.
