IndiGo's flight chaos sends Mumbai-Delhi fares through the roof

India

If you're planning to fly between Mumbai and Delhi, brace yourself—ticket prices have shot up to ₹51,860 one way, with returns from Delhi at nearly ₹49,000.
Other major routes aren't much better, with seats scarce and prices sky-high after a wave of IndiGo cancelations.

What's causing all this?

IndiGo had to cancel over 100 flights in a single day at Mumbai airport, with systemwide cancelations estimated at 100-118 on Thursday because of crew shortages made worse by new rules that require longer rest for staff.
The airline says things won't be back to normal until by February 10, 2026.

Passengers caught in the middle

Travelers are now stuck—most can't afford these inflated fares while waiting for refunds or rebooking options from IndiGo.
Even though aviation authorities have relaxed some rules to help out, flights are still limited and prices remain steep, leaving many frustrated and out of pocket.
