Indore Congress councillor accused of conversion conspiracy
In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Congress councilor Anwar Qadri has been booked after two men—Sahil Sheikh and Altaf Khan—were arrested for allegedly raping women while pretending to be in love.
During questioning, both admitted they were paid by Qadri to marry Hindu girls and get them to convert to Islam.
BJP demands councilor's arrest under NSA
Investigators say Sheikh and Khan got ₹2 lakh and ₹1 lakh each from Qadri, with the promise of more money after the conversions.
Qadri is currently on the run, while police are carrying out raids to find him.
The BJP has called for his arrest under the National Security Act and wants his assets investigated.
Congress hasn't commented yet.
