Jaipur: Leopard sighted in residential area, creates panic

India

A leopard made a surprise appearance in Jaipur's Lal Bahadur Nagar colony on November 7, caught clearly on CCTV.
The sighting caused panic among the locals—no one was hurt, but the community, where ex-MP Ramcharan Bohra also resides, is understandably concerned.

Forest officials have launched a search

Forest officials quickly launched a search, according to Regional Forest Officer Jitendra Singh Shekhawat.
While they didn't find the big cat, they think it probably slipped back to the Jhalana Leopard Reserve nearby.
People have been told to stay indoors at night and alert authorities if there's another sighting.

Jhalana is India's 1st urban leopard reserve

Jhalana is India's first urban leopard reserve and home to over 40 leopards—one of the densest populations around.
As cities grow, encounters like this remind us that wild animals are learning to live right next door, making conservation (and caution) more important than ever.
