Jaishankar supports Rajnath Singh's SCO stand
India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh chose not to sign the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) defense ministers' joint statement in China because it left out any mention of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 civilians lost their lives.
The draft did talk about other incidents like Balochistan and a hijacking in Pakistan, but skipped the Pahalgam tragedy.
India made it clear that all acts of terrorism
This move highlights India's zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and its push for accountability.
Pakistan insisted on leaving out the Pahalgam attack, which meant no consensus—and no joint statement—was possible.
Singh used the moment to urge SCO countries, including China and Pakistan, to genuinely work together against terrorism without double standards.
By refusing to sign, India made it clear that all acts of terrorism must be called out and those responsible should face consequences.
