Karnataka announces ₹1,033cr relief for flood-hit farmers

India

Karnataka is stepping up for its farmers after heavy floods, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rolling out a ₹1,033 crore relief package.
This support will reach over 14 lakh farmers who lost crops across nearly 15 lakh hectares.
It's an extension of earlier disaster aid and shows the state's push to help its farming community bounce back.

How the funds will reach farmers

Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda shared that the money will be sent directly to farmers using the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System through local officials.
The state has also asked the Center for extra funds—over ₹1,500 crore for rebuilding and another ₹600+ crore just for direct farmer compensation.
With property damage from floods estimated at around ₹3,455 crore, quick financial help is crucial to get affected communities back on their feet.
