Kerala youth dies after bike falls into unbarricaded pit
A 27-year-old named Jeys Benny lost his life on Monday night in Idukki, Kerala, after his bike fell into an unbarricaded roadside pit left open for over a month.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, he didn't survive.
The accident has triggered protests from locals and UDF workers, who are demanding answers from officials about why the hazard was ignored.
Public outrage leads to probe
Benny was traveling toward Thodupuzha around 10:45pm when he crashed into the poorly marked pit—CCTV footage showed there were no warning signs or reflectors.
Locals had already complained about the danger but nothing changed.
Benny, who had worked in Malta and was due to travel abroad soon, is now at the center of calls for accountability.
In response to public anger, Kerala's PWD Minister has ordered an official probe and promised strict action against those responsible.
