KGMU doctor accused of sexual exploitation, forced conversion, blackmail

India

A female MD Pathology resident at King George's Medical University (KGMU) has accused resident doctor Dr. Rameez Uddin Nayak of sexually exploiting her under the false promise of marriage, hiding his existing marriage, and pressuring her to convert to Islam.
She says he also forced her into a medical abortion without her consent and later blackmailed her with private photos.
The ongoing harassment reportedly led her to attempt suicide earlier this month.

Case status and official response

Police have filed multiple charges against Nayak—including sexual exploitation by deceit, causing miscarriage without consent, attempted forced conversion, criminal intimidation, and abetment to suicide—but he is currently missing as the investigation continues.
KGMU suspended him in December after an internal inquiry.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has promised a fair investigation and the victim has met with the State Women's Commission for support.
