Kolkata Police announce traffic restrictions for Kali Puja
India
Kolkata Police is rolling out traffic restrictions for Kali Puja on October 20, 2025, to keep things moving smoothly as crowds hit the streets.
The rules kick in from 6:00am on October 20 and last until 4:00am the next day.
Goods vehicles are mostly banned (unless they're carrying idols), but essentials like fuel and food deliveries get a pass.
Key roads will be closed, no parking allowed
Big roads like Bankim Chatterjee Street and College Street will be closed from 4:00pm on Puja day, and parking is off-limits on major stretches including E.M. Bypass.
Around Kalighat Kali Temple, expect tighter controls and no parking during peak hours.
The police say these steps are to ensure public safety and smooth vehicular movement during the festival.
