Low-pressure areas forming in Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal
India
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has updated its forecast: a low-pressure area is now expected to form over the southeast Arabian Sea by Monday or within 48 hours from October 18, 2024, with another one likely over the Bay of Bengal around October 24.
Both systems could strengthen into depressions or even cyclones as the week goes on.
Heavy rainfall likely across southern and central India
If you're in southern or central India, heads up—these weather systems could bring heavy to very heavy rainfall all week across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and more.
Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also on the cards for states like Odisha and Madhya Pradesh.
The IMD suggests staying alert for updates and taking precautions since daily life and travel might get disrupted.
