Lucknow man duped of ₹2cr in online gaming app scam

A Lucknow businessman lost almost ₹2 crore after falling for a gaming app scam that started with fake calls and messages back in 2022.
When he realized the profits were fake, things took a turn—scammers pretended to be CBI officials and bombarded him with threats, using international VoIP numbers and fake legal notices to pressure him into paying up.

Fraudsters threatened to leak his financial details

The fraudsters kept demanding money through RTGS and UPI transfers, warning they'd freeze his accounts or leak his financial details if he stopped.
He reported it to the Cyber Police Station in Gomti Nagar.
Now, Lucknow Police are on the case, working to track down those behind this elaborate con.
