Majority of Indians support rule-breaking leaders

India

A new Ipsos survey says 59% of Indians still want a strong leader—even if that means breaking some rules—but that's down 14% from last year.
The poll, part of a global look at populism and pushback against elite control, gathered responses from over 23,000 people in 31 countries earlier this year.

National pride, self-reliance top list of concerns

National pride and self-reliance top the list for most Indians, with 73% saying defending the country is key.
Economic worries are close behind—nearly three-quarters want more government investment in jobs, education, and public safety.
The survey also found more people prefer locals get jobs when work is scarce (62%), and opinions on elites are split almost evenly.
