Manipur Police arrest militant, seize arms and ammunition
Police in Manipur's Imphal West district arrested a 26-year-old member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group) on June 21, 2025.
He was caught with 19 extortion letters, raising concerns about threats and intimidation in the area.
After his arrest, security teams launched searches across Imphal East and Kakching districts.
Large cache of arms and ammunition recovered
The raids uncovered a surprising amount of weapons—everything from rifles and mortars to IEDs, 12 grenades, bulletproof gear, and more.
In Kakching hills, police also seized an AK-47, SMG carbine, explosives, and plenty of ammo.
Authorities say these discoveries show that militant threats are still very real in Manipur.
Investigations are ongoing as police work to break up these networks and keep things safer for everyone.
