Manipur: Security forces seize weapons, arrest 6 militants

India

Security forces in Manipur recently seized a stash of weapons—including rifles, pistols, grenades, and homemade mortars—from Kangpokpi and Imphal West on Saturday.
This is part of an ongoing push to curb militant activity as the state deals with continuing unrest.

Militants extorted hospitals, public officials, civilians

Six militants from banned groups were also arrested across four districts for allegedly extorting hospitals, public officials, and civilians, as well as recruiting young people into militancy.
With President's Rule in place since February 2024 because of ethnic violence, these arrests and weapon seizures are part of intensified efforts to restore calm in Manipur.
