Mumbai: Massive traffic jam on Western Express Highway

India

Mumbai's Western Express Highway was gridlocked on Thursday, with the stretch between Bandra and Andheri turning a quick 30-minute drive into a two-hour crawl.
Hundreds of commuters were stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic, leading to plenty of frustration.
Traffic police increased their presence to help ease the jam.

Chronic issues spark online frustration

The chaos set off a wave of complaints on social media, where users called out the highway's long-standing congestion and uneven traffic management compared to South Mumbai.
Some highlighted heavy jams between Khar and Santacruz, while others shared concerns about rough road conditions making things tougher for sick or pregnant passengers.
Authorities urged patience and suggested alternate routes, as many residents voiced frustration and demanded improvements.
