Mumbai to face 15% water cut on December 8-9
Heads up, Mumbai! The city will have a 15% water supply cut for 24 hours from December 8 to 9 as BMC replaces a major pipeline connecting Tansa Dam and the Bhandup Water Purification Plant.
This upgrade is essential but means less water for a day across several areas.
Which areas are hit, and what should you do?
Seventeen wards—including Colaba, Malabar Hill, Bandra, Juhu, Andheri, Borivali, Ghatkopar, and more—will be affected.
If you live in these places, it's smart to store enough water ahead of time so you're not caught off guard.
Why now?
The maintenance was moved from earlier dates to avoid clashing with Mahaparinirvan Diwas on December 6—a day when many people gather in the city.
The reschedule is meant to keep things smooth during this important event while still getting vital repairs done.
