Mumbai's getting a brand-new railway terminus at Jogeshwari by 2027

India

Mumbai's Western Railway is building its first greenfield rail hub in over three decades—Jogeshwari Terminus—which should be ready by March 2027.
The first two platforms are expected to start running trains as early as June 2026, aiming to make city commutes smoother and less crowded.

Why does this matter?

This new terminus is a big deal because it'll help ease the chaos at Dadar, Mumbai Central, and Bandra by shifting some long-distance trains here.
With construction nearing completion, the station will have three platforms for massive 24-coach trains, plus cool upgrades like AC lounges, food plazas, EV charging zones, escalators and lifts.

Better connections for everyone

Located between Ram Mandir and Jogeshwari stations—and just a quick walk from the metro—the new hub links up with major roads like Western Express Highway and JVLR.
That means easier travel across Mumbai and less pressure on old stations.
