Murder suspect apprehended after 13-Year manhunt
After 13 years on the run, Govind Kumar Harak Choudhary has finally been arrested in Delhi.
Back in 2012, he allegedly murdered his brother-in-law, Sureshkumar Surya Narayan Choudhary (35), in Navghar, Bhayander East.
The crime was brutal—Sureshkumar was strangled with an iron wire and suffered multiple injuries. At the time, Govind disappeared right after the incident.
Police first registered a case against an unknown person but later learned Govind suspected his brother-in-law of having an affair with his wife.
How the police tracked him down
The case went cold until the MBVV crime branch decided to take another look.
By monitoring phone calls made to Govind's relatives, they noticed frequent calls to a SIM card in his name being used in Delhi's Naya Bazaar—where he'd been working for a rice vendor all these years.
Acting on this lead, police nabbed him and handed him over to Navghar police for further investigation.
