Delhi blast probe: NIA raids 8 J&K locations, suspect's house
What's the story
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), along with the Jammu and Kashmir police, has launched a major operation in connection with the Red Fort terror blast case on Monday. The agency raided multiple locations across Nadigam Shopian, Samboora, Koil Pulwama, Qazigund and Verinag Anantnag, including the residence of key suspect Jasir Bilal Wani, according to The Times of India. Reportedly, Wani is one of the main co-conspirators behind the November 10 Red Fort car blast.
Suspect's involvement
Wani's role in planning Hamas-style drone attacks
Wani, a political science graduate from Anantnag district's Qazigund, is believed to have played a major role in planning Hamas-style drone attacks and making small rockets for blasts. He was allegedly indoctrinated by another key suspect, Umar un Nabi, into becoming a suicide bomber. However, the report stated that Wani withdrew from the plan due to financial strain and religious prohibitions against suicide.
Case progress
NIA's ongoing investigation and arrests
The NIA is still probing the case, tracking leads across several states. The agency has arrested seven accused so far, including Amir Rashid Ali, who registered the blast vehicle, and Soyab of Dhauj, Faridabad, who sheltered the bomber Umar. Shaheen Shahid, Muzammil Shakeel Ganai, Adeel Ahmed Rather, and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay were also arrested on production orders from the Patiala House court.
Joint effort
NIA's collaboration with local police forces
The NIA is working closely with local police forces to dismantle the terrorist network behind the attack. They have seized nearly 2,900kg of explosives in Faridabad and traced the blast vehicle to a local dealer. The agency continues to examine evidence from another vehicle belonging to Nabi as part of their investigation into this deadly attack in Delhi.
