A doctor at a private hospital in Sihor, Bhavnagar, Gujarat, was allegedly assaulted by the relatives of a patient. The incident took place on Saturday when the accused arrived at the hospital seeking treatment for a woman who had suffered a head injury. The altercation began after Dr. Jaideepsinh Gohil asked them to remove their footwear before entering the emergency room.

The entire incident was captured on the hospital's CCTV camera. The footage shows a few men standing next to the injured woman on the bed. Moments later, Gohil enters the room and requests them to remove their slippers. This request triggers a heated argument, which quickly escalates into physical violence against Gohil. Despite attempts by nursing staff and the patient to intervene, the assault continues unabated.

Accused arrested, charged under multiple sections

The attack resulted in significant damage to medical supplies and equipment in the room. Gohil, 33, sustained injuries during this incident. The accused also allegedly threatened to kill him, as per the First Information Report (FIR). Police have since arrested the three individuals involved in the attack: Hiren Dangar, Bhavdeep Dangar, and Kaushik Kuvadiya. They were booked under several sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to causing hurt, provoking breach of peace and criminal intimidation.

The incident in Gujarat comes at a time when the medical fraternity across India is protesting against the alleged rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The alleged crime, believed to have been committed by a civic volunteer of the Kolkata Police, has triggered nationwide protests. Doctors are demanding justice for the victim and a central law to ensure their safety while on duty.
