Pahalgam attack: An act of economic warfare
India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar described the Pahalgam terror attack as "economic warfare," saying it was meant to hurt Kashmir's tourism and stir up religious tensions.
The Resistance Front (TRF), linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack that killed 26 civilians, reportedly forcing victims to reveal their religion before being targeted.
Attack part of pattern of terrorism from Pakistan: Jaishankar
The attack wasn't just about violence—it aimed to damage Kashmir's economy by scaring away tourists and dividing communities.
Jaishankar highlighted that such acts are part of a long pattern of terrorism from groups operating out of Pakistan, pointing back to major attacks like those in Parliament (2001) and Mumbai (2008).
India won't let nuclear threats stop it from acting
During his US visit, where he opened a UN exhibit on terrorism's human cost, Jaishankar made it clear India won't let nuclear threats stop it from acting against cross-border terror.
Following the attack, India launched Operation Sindoor targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The message: India isn't backing down when it comes to protecting its people.
