PM Modi to inaugurate Navi Mumbai International Airport on October 8
Big news for Mumbai's travelers: Prime Minister Modi is set to open the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) on October 8, 2025.
Built through a partnership between Adani Airport Holdings and CIDCO, this airport is designed to put Mumbai on the map with global aviation giants like London, New York, and Tokyo.
From 20 million to 155 million passengers annually
The first phase covers a massive 1,160 hectares and will handle up to 20 million passengers each year.
Once fully complete, expect four terminals, two runways, and increased capacity for Mumbai's combined airports to 155 million passengers annually.
Cargo capacity will jump thanks to AI-powered tech—think 0.5 million tons now to over 3.2 million tons soon.
Economic boost and expansion of India's airport network
NMIA isn't just about flights—it's expected to create over 200,000 jobs in fields like aviation, tech, hospitality, and real estate.
India's airport network has more than doubled since 2014 (from 74 to 163 airports), with passenger numbers set to hit half a billion by 2030.
It's a sign of India's growing influence in global travel.
