What's the story

The Pune Police have arrested a self-styled guru and his seven associates for allegedly sexually exploiting and cheating a 41-year-old woman from Haryana for nearly 15 years. The main accused, Radhamohan Mishra (59), and his associate Kanwal Nayan (58) were arrested from an ashram in Wagholi. The victim, who worked at a reputed company in Pune and lived on Sinhagad Road, filed her complaint on Tuesday night.

Abuse revelation

Victim divorced husband, transferred property to Mishra

Pune Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar said Mishra had been living in Pune for eight years after moving from Haryana. He allegedly claimed to be a divine incarnation and subjected the victim to physical, sexual, and mental abuse. The victim was forced to drink his urine, given electric shocks, divorced her husband at his behest, and transferred her property into his name. Mishra also turned the victim's family against her by portraying her as dishonest.

Family manipulation

The victim was kept under constant surveillance with CCTV cameras installed in her room. Mishra arranged her marriage through a matrimonial website but imposed several conditions and instructed her to run away before the wedding, damaging her relationship with family. He also demanded intimate footage of the woman and her husband, which he reportedly used to blackmail her before pushing the couple to separate.
