Red Fort blast accused Shaheen sought new PAN, passport renewal
What's the story
Shaheen Shahid, the woman arrested from Faridabad in connection with the Red Fort blast case, has made it difficult for investigators to track her finances. According to Zee News, she obtained a new Permanent Account Number (PAN) card in Faridabad after working in Saudi Arabia for four years. She also applied for a passport renewal in Delhi six months ago.
Radical intentions
Shaheen's plans for a radical NGO in UP
During the investigation, it was revealed that Shaheen was planning to establish a recruitment command center in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, under the guise of an NGO. She had approached other NGOs for funding for her organization, which claimed to offer free education and medical care to poor Muslim children. The preparation for this NGO had been underway for six months.
Radicalization scheme
Shaheen's NGO plans included radicalization and training
The proposed NGO was to have a building with 10 large rooms and a basement. Reportedly, social media would be banned for women recruits to keep them focused on "jihad." A jammer was planned for this purpose. Disguised as religious teachers, recruiters would give lectures to instil radicalism and train women in jihad under the name Muntazim.
Infrastructure plans
Shaheen's NGO to have hostel, medicine shop, school
The building was also to include a medicine shop and a school for Muslim girls. Recruits would work in the shop and teach students. Shaheen had raised ₹20 lakh through crowdfunding for explosives used in the blast. The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) is now tracing those who facilitated digital transfers and contributions to her organization.
