Security forces detain 7 militants in Manipur
Security forces in Manipur have arrested seven members of banned militant outfits during operations across four districts on June 18 and 19, 2025.
Those caught are linked to groups like the Peoples's Liberation Army (PLA), UNLF (Koireng), PREPAK (Pro), and two Kangleipak Communist Party factions.
The crackdown comes as the state continues to face serious unrest.
Arrests part of efforts to restore calm
Among those arrested were two PLA members in Imphal West, plus others picked up near the India-Myanmar border and in Kakching for alleged extortion.
Weapons were also seized during these raids.
These arrests are part of ongoing efforts to restore calm after ethnic violence that has left over 260 people dead and many more displaced since May 2023.
With President's rule still in place, security forces say they're focused on bringing some stability back to Manipur.
