Severe rainfall alert in Delhi
Good news—IMD says the monsoon will hit Delhi by June 24, three days ahead of schedule.
There's a yellow alert till Tuesday, with possible thunderstorms and gusty winds up to 50km/h.
The monsoon is moving up from Jaipur, Agra, and Jammu, so expect rain vibes soon.
Rain and winds have helped improve Delhi's air quality
The early monsoon could bring some relief from the heat as temperatures dip to around 33-35°C.
But heads up: humidity will make it feel much hotter (heat index could reach 47.5°C), so it'll still be pretty muggy.
On the bright side, even light rain and winds have helped improve Delhi's air quality—AQI is now at a "satisfactory" level citywide, with Punjabi Bagh leading at an AQI of just 62.
Delhi's air quality improving
Delhi's crackdown on old vehicles and stricter pollution checks seem to be working—over 200 old vehicles have been impounded and more than 11,000 challans issued recently.
These steps are helping keep the city's air cleaner as we head into monsoon season.
