What's the story

The Srinagar Police on Saturday attached a three-storey house worth around ₹2 crore. The property is linked to the family of designated terrorist Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, alias Sajad Gul. The move is part of an effort to dismantle terror networks and their financial structures in Kashmir. The house, built on 15 marlas of land at Rose Avenue in HMT, Khushipora, was registered under Gul's father, Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh.

Legal proceedings

Property attached under UAPA

The property attachment was done under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). It was done in connection with an FIR registered at Parimpora Police Station under different sections of the UAPA and EIMCO Act. The proceedings were carried out in front of an Executive Magistrate. Investigations revealed that Sajad Gul actively used this property for terror-related activities, despite it being registered in his father's name.

Terrorism facilitation

Gul's role in terrorism

The police said Gul played a key role in spreading anti-India propaganda, inciting violence, and facilitating terrorism through online networks and social media channels. The authorities said this move is part of a larger campaign to choke the financial and logistical infrastructure of terrorism in Kashmir. The Srinagar Police also warned that anyone supporting or abetting terrorism will face strict legal consequences, including attachment and forfeiture of properties acquired through unlawful means.
