Teacher charged after caning 7-year-old in Tamil Nadu

A teacher at Elachipalayam Government Middle School in Coimbatore has had a case registered against her for allegedly caning a seven-year-old girl, Shashini, leaving her with bruises and swelling on her arm.
The incident happened on November 7, and the teacher—Periyanayagi—has promised to cover Shashini's medical bills.
