Telangana CM proposes salary deduction for neglectful parents

India

Telangana's Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, just announced a proposed law that could hit government employees in the wallet if they ignore their elderly parents.
If passed, 10-15% of an employee's salary would go straight into their neglected parent's bank account.
The idea was revealed at a Hyderabad event and is meant to make sure older parents aren't left struggling financially.

Committee to draft law

The goal is to guarantee a steady monthly income for elderly parents and highlight the importance of family responsibility.
CM Reddy emphasized the government's role in promoting compassion within official duties, urging new group-II employees to approach their responsibilities with empathy.
To get things rolling, he's asked top officials to set up a committee that will draft the actual law—so this plan could soon become reality in Telangana.
