Tomato prices hit ₹80/kg—government rolls out cheaper tomatoes in Delhi

Tomato prices have jumped past ₹80 per kg in Delhi, so the government has stepped in with subsidized "Janata" tomatoes at ₹52 per kg through NCCF outlets.
This quick move is meant to help with shortages and keep things steady as the big parliamentary session approaches on December 1.

Cyclone Montha shakes up supply, government aims for price relief

Thanks to Cyclone Montha, tomato production estimates for this year dropped from 21.32 million tons last year to 19.46 million tons this year, especially hitting key regions like Madanapalle and Kolar.
The government hopes these new sales will bring prices back down to a more reasonable ₹40-50 per kg.
