Some of those caught, particularly among the Rohingya group, included women and children; the Rohingyas had reportedly traveled from Delhi and Jammu aiming to reach Bangladesh.
Since 2022, Tripura has stepped up its crackdown on illegal immigration—over 3,500 people have been arrested so far, mostly from Bangladesh and Myanmar.
The state uses special task forces, a Foreigner Identification Portal, and a three-tier border security system to manage the situation.
