Union Health Minister seeks report on Tirupati laddoos
Union Health Minister JP Nadda has sought a report from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu regarding allegations of animal fat usage in the famous Tirupati laddoos. The minister assured that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) will thoroughly examine this report before taking any action. "I have spoken to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister...and asked for a report on it," said Nadda.
Naidu's claim sparks political controversy over laddoo ingredients
The controversy began when CM Naidu alleged that animal fat and other sub-standard ingredients were used in the preparation of Tirupati laddoos during the previous government's tenure. This claim has ignited a political dispute, with the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) accusing Naidu of making "heinous allegations" for political gain. In response, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) circulated a lab report to support their claim.
Central government to review report on laddoo ingredients
During a press conference about the first 100 days of the Narendra Modi government's third term, Nadda stated, "I got to know about the issue through social media. I spoke to Chandrababu Naidu today and asked to send the entire report." He further added that once they receive this report, it will be examined and suitable action taken. The central government is now set to review this report before deciding on any further steps.
