Unnao: 60-passenger bus on Delhi-Varanasi route overturns, 40 injured
A double-decker sleeper bus carrying about 60 people from Delhi to Varanasi overturned on the Agra-Lucknow expressway in Unnao early Thursday morning.
The bus hit a cabbage-loaded truck near Aliyarpur village around 2:30am and tumbled into a 20-foot ditch, turning a regular journey into a scary ordeal.
Passengers were sent onward in another vehicle
More than 40 passengers were hurt—some seriously—and rushed to Lucknow's Lok Bandhu Hospital.
Locals heard cries for help and alerted authorities. Survivors described being jolted awake by the crash, with panic spreading inside the bus.
Those unhurt were sent onward in another vehicle, while police are now investigating and plan to file a negligence case against the driver.
This incident really highlights how fast communities can come together when emergencies strike.
