India
In Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, a 50-year-old farmer named Sarman allegedly strangled his eight-year-old grandson on October 4, 2025, after accusing the boy of stealing about ₹1,500 from him over time.
The child was reported missing by his father that evening and was later found dead in a fodder storeroom at the family home.
Accused admitted he killed grandson in anger
Police initially registered a kidnapping case but shifted focus to the family after the autopsy confirmed death by strangulation and no sign of forced entry.
During questioning, Sarman admitted he killed his grandson in anger over repeated thefts and ongoing disputes with his daughter-in-law.
He claimed both she and the child often stole from him.
Sarman has been arrested as the investigation continues.
