UP Government aims for 50% reduction in road accidents by 2031

Uttar Pradesh is aiming to reduce road accident fatalities by 50% over the next six years.
The state just rolled out its "Vision 2030 Roadmap," which focuses on making vehicles safer, spreading child safety awareness, and tightening up traffic law enforcement—even with limited resources.

At the same event, "Mission Save Lives 2.0" was launched to fight the huge number of two-wheeler deaths—54,000 in 2023 from not wearing helmets.
The campaign will crack down on fake helmets (which shockingly make up about half the market), promote BIS-certified helmets for every vehicle by 2027, and push for lower GST on quality helmets to boost both safety and jobs.
