Uttarakhand: Dehradun logs record rainfall; schools shut in Rishikesh

India

Uttarakhand just got hit with some serious rain—Dehradun logged 264mm overnight, breaking its September rainfall record that stood for over a century (since 1924).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says more heavy showers are on the way over the next two days, so the state is bracing for impact.

Safety measures in place

It's not just Dehradun—places like Narendra Nagar, Thal, Kathgodam, and Nainital have also seen unusually high rainfall.
With rivers swelling and landslides possible, officials are keeping a close eye on things.
Schools in Rishikesh are closed for safety.
