Vande Bharat sleeper trains to debut in mid-October

India

Indian Railways is rolling out its very first Vande Bharat sleeper trains by mid-October 2025, with both sets launching together.
One train has already finished trials and is parked in Delhi, while the other is nearly ready to go.

Each train will have 16 coaches

These new sleepers come with 16 coaches across AC First Class, AC 2-Tier, and AC 3-Tier—fitting up to 1,128 passengers.
Designed for comfy overnight trips at speeds up to 180km/h, there is speculation that the first route may be between New Delhi and Patna.

Trains will be equipped with crash-proof design

Passengers can look forward to automatic doors, LED screens, bio-toilets, soft lighting, and CCTV cameras.
Safety gets a boost too with features like the Kavach system and crash-proof design.
First AC coaches even offer cushioned berths and hot water showers—aiming for that "air travel" vibe on rails.
