Warm reception for Amarnath yatris enroute shrine
The Amarnath Yatra kicked off with nearly 5,900 pilgrims arriving in Kashmir on Wednesday.
After being flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Jammu, the group was greeted with garlands and sweets by officials and locals as they reached Kulgam, Anantnag, and Srinagar—setting a friendly tone for the journey ahead.
TL;DR
Two routes for pilgrims
Pilgrims are heading to either Baltal or Pahalgam base camps before starting their trek to the famous cave shrine.
They can pick between a longer 48km route from Nunwan-Pahalgam or a shorter 14km path from Baltal.
With over 3.3 lakh people signed up this year, the yatra wraps up on August 9.
