Delhi blast: Video shows suspected bomber driving car before blast
What's the story
A powerful explosion rocked the busy area near Delhi's Red Fort on Monday evening. The blast occurred at 6:52 pm near the Red Fort Metro Station, with at least nine people killed and several others injured. Disturbing visuals showed mangled bodies and wrecked cars scattered across the area. The explosion took place inside a parked Hyundai i20 vehicle with registration number HR 26CE7674, which had been parked for over three hours before detonation.

CCTV footage has now revealed a man driving the Hyundai i20 that exploded near Delhi's Red Fort. The man had reportedly dropped off a relative at Old Delhi Railway Station before the incident. The vehicle was parked from 3:19pm to 6:48pm and detonated at 6:52pm at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort Metro Station. Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed security agencies reached within minutes after the blast.

Legal action
Case registered under UAPA
The Delhi Police has registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) after forensic evidence and intelligence inputs indicated possible terror links. Sections 16 and 18 of UAPA, along with sections of the Explosives Act, were invoked in the case lodged at Kotwali Police Station. Forensic and central agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), are assisting in the investigation.
Security measures
High alert issued in Delhi, neighboring states
A high alert has been sounded in Delhi and neighboring states, as well as Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Haryana, Punjab, Hyderabad, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Bihar is also on high alert ahead of its second phase of polling today. The incident comes on the same day a massive haul of 2,900kg of explosives was found near Faridabad in Haryana. Sources have linked this to a "white collar" terror module involving Dr Umar Mohammad from south Kashmir's Pulwama.
