Who is IS-linked ricin terror plot mastermind arrested in Gujarat
India
A Hyderabad-based doctor, Dr. Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, was arrested by Gujarat ATS on November 7 for allegedly planning a terrorist attack using ricin poison.
Along with two accomplices, he had scouted locations in Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Lucknow.
Police seized pistols, live cartridges, and four liters of castor oil (used to make ricin) from Saiyed; the two accomplices were arrested separately.
All three have been booked under anti-terror laws.
Saiyed was in contact with ISKP operative
Authorities say Saiyed was in contact with an Afghanistan-based Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) operative connected to Pakistan.
He reportedly admitted sourcing weapons from Rajasthan.
The ATS is now digging deeper into possible larger terror networks and more suspects as the case unfolds.
