Woman claims actor Smaroop Gowda extorted ₹17 lakh from her

A 32-year-old woman from Bengaluru says she was extorted by Smaroop Gowda, whom she met on Facebook in 2022.
Gowda first borrowed ₹4.42 lakh from her, claiming he needed help with a court case.
He later demanded another ₹12.82 lakh, threatening to make her private videos public if she refused.

Woman rejected the offer of ₹2 lakh to settle

When the woman asked for her money back, Gowda allegedly started avoiding her and even assaulted her near Sunkadakatte bus stop.
In August 2025, his associates offered ₹2 lakh to settle but warned of "dire consequences" if she went to the police.
She rejected the offer and filed a complaint. Police have now registered a case for cheating, harassment, threats, and assault, and are investigating further.
