Woman marries divorced man, leaves him, now demanding money

An FIR was lodged recently against a woman named Pooja Thakur, and eight others, who allegedly tricked a Ghaziabad trader, Arvind Mishra. Pooja and Arvind met via a matrimonial site and later got married. One day, Pooja left for market but never returned. Since then, she has been demanding money from Arvind, and threatening to file false charges against him, if he doesn't budge.

Arvind even spoke to Pooja's relatives before marriage

The FIR says, Arvind, who was a divorcee, met Pooja through a matrimonial website, where she had claimed to be a divorcee too. Arvind even talked to a few of her relatives before marrying her at an Arya Samaj temple, a couple of months ago, in Ghaziabad. "We went on vacations and I spent nearly Rs. 80,000 on buying gifts for her," Arvind said.

Pooja took Rs. 1.2L, vanished a few days after wedding

"She took Rs. 1.2L from me and told me a few days after our wedding that she was going to the market. She never returned. When I searched the website, I found that her profile is still active and she is searching for a man for marriage," Arvind said. Pooja had once told him that she was fighting a case at the Gurugram court.

Pooja is demanding Rs. 15 lakh, threatens of bogus case

In his inquiry after the incident, Arvind learned that she was married several times earlier, and has lodged seven complaints against the grooms. "She even got married to a Delhi-based businessman by terming herself a Muslim," Arvind said, adding that when he went to her address in Delhi, he found the house locked. "She's demanding Rs. 15L to reach a compromise," he added.

Arvind has filed a complaint at Kotwali police station

If Arvind doesn't pay up, Pooja has threatened him that she would frame him in a bogus case. After facing such a harrowing time, Arvind went to the Kotwali police station to file a complaint. He has given all the details, including cases lodged by Pooja in New Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Maharashtra, to help the police investigate the case.

Woman left him and is now demanding more money: SP

Superintendent of Police, Shlok Kumar, confirmed, "The woman has a local address in Raj Nagar Extension and they stayed in Ghaziabad (after marriage). The woman left him and is now demanding more money." "We have come to know that there are several instances in which she had lodged cases against different people and the cases have reached the court," Kumar added.

FIR lodged under IPC Section 383, 420 and 506

Based on the complaint filed by the 30-year-old city trader, the city police has lodged a FIR under IPC Sections for cheating (420), criminal intimidation (506) and extortion (383) against nine people including Pooja and her family members.
