Women can now work night shifts in UP

India

Big update from Uttar Pradesh: women can now officially work night shifts (7pm to 6am) across 29 different industries.
The state's new rules, issued by the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, promise double pay for these hours and require employers to provide safety measures like CCTV, transport home, and security staff.

Stricter wage and safety standards for employers

Employers have to follow stricter wage and safety standards now—overtime limits are up (from 75 to 144 hours per quarter), with double pay for extra work.
Women are also being welcomed into fields that were mostly off-limits before. The move is expected to boost gender equality and open up more opportunities for women in the state.
